Woo boy.

Oh, man…it’s ugly. You know it’s a bad election night when the highlight is seeing Carville wear a trash can on his head. I guess we Dems should’ve expected this the minute most of the party capitulated to Dubya’s wag-the-dog Iraq vote. If you don’t give the American people a choice, they won’t make one. Sigh…

  1. Ok Im going to bed at 3:39 in deep depression, they have a republican unified government and I am sick. When is the last time this happened, during Eisenhower years? Loads of conservatives in federal courts, I am sick. I am disgusted. Time to clean house. Get Daschle the fuck out of there with him being a doormat for republicans and Gephardt using his status solely for a stepping stone to his presidential run. Sorry for my harsh tone but any steadfast democrat knows this is about as low as it gets, unified Republican radical govt. Where the hell we go wrong???!?!?!?!!?!?!

  2. Why am I not even surprised? Republicans have been getting everything handed to them on a silver platter ever since you-know-what. And we’ve been doomed ever since.

  3. I’m not happy either, not for a second. But let me try to put a good spin on it:

We’re really just talking about a handful of seats. This wasn’t ’94. A couple of seats the other way next time and Dems control Congress. Winning the governors’ races in Illinois and California and OK is big, good news.

Also: Democrats are completely in the minority now. Bush has no excuses, nobody to point to and whine. This is fully his economy and his war. Being in the minority may force Democrats to become the critics they should already be.

  4. Both good points, Bone Daddy. Nothing fails like success, and I suspect Dubya will have much to answer for in 2004. But a lot of damage can be done in two years…
