Media Blackout.

The networks stay mum on media consolidation as the Powell FCC prepares to lift cross-ownership caps in local and regional markets. Not surprisingly, it looks like the FCC vote will be party-line, with the three Republicans voting as a bloc to facilitate Rupert Murdoch’s ambitions and enlist free-market ideology in order to kill free-thinking media outlets. We’ll always have the web, I guess.

  1. So is the silver lining of media consolidation that once it is done the media will actually stop kissing Bush’s tush? I think I read on Salon (Joe Conason more than likely) that part of the reason Bush is getting such an easy time in the press is that the media conglomerates are biding their time until the consolidation rulings are done. And that after they get this power they want so badly, then they can point out that the emperor has no clothes.

Not that this is worth the trade off.
