Neil LaBute talks a little about his forthcoming remake of The Wicker Man. Americanizing it sounds like a terrible idea, as does casting Nicholas Cage in the Edward Woodward role, but I suppose I’ll give LaBute the benefit of the doubt for now.

LaBute Americanized (or, more accurately, LaBute-ized) the protagonist in Possession and it worked out well. I’m not worried at all.
Is LaBute a guy thing? I saw his play _The Shape of Things_ over a year ago when I was last in NYC. As we were leaving the theater after a perfunctory 20-second ovation, a beefy guy in a leather jacket said, “That was the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever seen — and I like everything!”
