9-11-02.

With all due respect to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the horrible attacks one year ago, I think there’s enough 9-11 memorializing out there at the moment without my further contributing. So I’ll confine my links to my post that day, W.H. Auden’s “September 1, 1939” (which I still think beautifully encapsulates both the despair of Ground Zero and the hope of Union Square one year ago), and the changes to your legal rights since then. (Last link via Genehack.) Let us hope that 9-11 stands alone with December 7 as a day that will live in infamy, and not as a prelude of darker hours to come.

Just to stay on message here…

SAVE FARSCAPE! Send letters, e-mails, calls, and general consternation the way of the Sci-Fi Channel (and their corporate sponsor) for not living up to their genre billing. Who knows which letter or e-mail will put us over the top? Update: My sister-in-law Lotta, who’s been on the front-lines of the Save Farscape movement since last Friday, gets her e-mail read on CNN. You go, girl.

This Time It’s Personal.

Today I settle all family business, so don’t tell me you’re innocent, Carlo. Bush tells the UN we’ll go it alone against Iraq if need be. I mean, something has to happen before the first Tuesday in November, or else there’s not much point, is there?

Turn and face the strain.

I’ve definitely been in a work hole, ’cause I’m just now finding out that Jerry Stackhouse got traded to the Wizards yesterday. I dunno…I personally think Whackhouse is suspect with regards to shot selection, and without Ben Wallace to clean up the boards, that means a lot of turnovers. In more serious news, ‘Zo’s kidney condition has worsened, and it looks like he’s on the verge of missing another season.
