Sippin' on Gin and Ingsoc.
"Just what does Tanqueray have in mind here? How is this foppish hipster supposed to sell gin?" Old friend Seth Stevenson assesses Tanqueray's new spokesman, Tony Sinclair, who has come to grace a number of bus stops and billboards in my area. For the most part, I think gin is pretty vile -- When it comes to the spirits, I'm a Jameson man. That being said, I did enjoy a glass of Victory Gin while re-watching Michael Radford's powerful version of Nineteen Eighty-Four over the weekend. Winston Smith...now there's a spokesman Tanqueray should get behind. Doubleplusgood.

I heard Seth Stevenson talking about these ads today on NPR. When I first saw them, I was confused because I thought the spokesman was the DJ from the Ellen DeGeneres talk show, who is also British, and also named Tony!

I love Tony Sinclair. He's the best goofy spokesperson out there.
Tony Sinclair is just some fictional spokesperson with a bad fake english accent. Of course when people see the ad on tv people are going to say "Who is Tony Sinclair" Thats probaly the way Tanquaery planned it to get peoples attention. Yes. it got mine but I didn't even know what the ad was for all I noticed was some jerk with a bad English accent saying "Hi I'm Tony Sinclair"
I don;t care if he really is what they claim he is - this man fucking rules!
