Maybe in 2006.

As everyone knows, England and the US went down together in World Cup action Friday. A very disappointing evening, although at least we Yanks can hold our heads high (unlike the ’98 fiasco.) I’d say it’s Brazil’s to lose at this point, although South Korea is clearly exhibiting great mojo this Cup. In other sporting news, the NBA draft is on Wednesday, which along with the final four Cup games should proved oases of sporting excitement amid another long baseball summer. Ah well, at least there’s always the MLS.

Does that mean that we limeys can’t? England were ahead for half the match and scored. The US team failed to score against a team that England hammered 5-1 in qualifying. We would’ve made mincemeat out of them.

You can definetely hold your heads up high. You did a great job. Brazil did a great job of holding the ball when they were (unfairly) a man down. That same man scored perhaps the greatest goal in the tournament.

    😉

  2. No worries, Tom. I didn’t mean to dismiss the English at all (after all, I am half-English.) I meant we can hold our heads high in comparison to our ’98 and ’94 outings, which is kind of a new feeling for us with regards to the Cup. It’s too bad about the Brits as well.
