Greedo shoots first (but only barely).

Bill Hunt of the Digital Bits reviews the Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD box set, and includes screenshots of the various tweaks made since the 1997 re-releases. Hayden Christiansen replacing Sebastian Shaw is really lame, but thankfully the Madness of King George didn’t extend to including Jimmy Smits and Natalie Portman at various points as earlier rumored. In other fanboy DVD news, The Return of the King: Extended Edition has (finally) been officially announced for Dec. 14. (Pre-orders start tomorrow, which hopefully will prompt New Line to release an official version of the Comicon EE trailer.) Update: New Line revokes the EE date. What’s going on over there?

  1. Forced to change my alias online…still my opinion is the same. I’d like to buy these just to set them on fire, to ritually purify the film that had such an impact on our generation. Stan Marsh was right, we do need to save great films from the hands of their directors.

Greedo shoots first, no Ewok song, cheesy cut-aways to the three other planets featured in the triology after the Death Star (II) was destroyed…all of these I stomached. But Sister Christiansen in Jedi? He sucks even at just standing around.

    Revisionist Star Wars. Bullshit!

  2. Your unbelievable. PEOPLE JUST CAN’T STAND CHANGE. Haydn should’ve been there or the plot as a 6 film saga doesnt make sense. The Dvd’s are supposed to go with the 6 film saga. The videos are not. If you dislike the dvd’s soo much then just watch the videos and quit complaining. and how is it cheesy to have a few other planets. Surely it would be the idea tou hate not the number of planets shown. I don’t see how showin bespin AND naboo makes it any more cheesy than it was
And you wanna talk about cheesy then lets talk about furry animals dancing around and singing.

    lol. Change can destroy some.

  3. here is my responce to all those whiney complaints.
    1. Haydn should’ve been there as it wouldn’t have made sense for some1 who was watching them in chronological order if they had a different person at the end! If you don’t understand because you’ve seen them in the wrong order like me and refuse to accept that the film you love has slightly improved to coinside with the PT then don’t watch the PT and watch the OT on video!

    2. I don’t understand y greedo shot first perhaps because greedo was the attacker and he would probably make the first move.

    3. I don’t see how 3 other planets makes it cheesy. What difference does it make. Surely it would be the concept you would find cheesy. How is having Bespin there and not Naboo makin it less cheesy. MAkes sense to me.

4: and you wanna talk about cheesy then lets talk abouot furry animals dancing around and singing. it was ringy to see em sing and im glad they took it out as it’s a wonderful melody.

I realise you said you could stomach these but there are those out there who can’t.

  4. Haydn should’ve been there as it wouldn’t have made sense for some1 who was watching them in chronological order if they had a different person at the end!

Do you mean like Alec Guinness instead of Ewan McGregor? 😉

  5. Or, the manifestation of Anakin, (and Yoda, Obi-Wan) at the end of ROTJ is exactly the way it should be, each shown how they were ON THE GOOD SIDE OF THE FORCE! Anakin is shown as he was before he was suduced by Palpatine/The Emperor.Makes sense now?..Sheesh!
