Dubya cries foul.

With Social Security privatization going nowhere and Bolton still in mothballs until the White House coughs up the requested info, Dubya gets testy about Democratic “obstruction” at a GOP fundraising affair. Well, it’s good to hear the right-wingers are rattled, but at some point, the Dems do need to get a proactive agenda on the table, so the “road block” schtick doesn’t stick.

  1. Social Security is the Democrats’ plan. I haven’t seen Bush come up with an alternative yet that people like. Democrats need to be out front constantly to remind people that the Social Security works and is a system created by Democrats and protected by Democrats and that the best way to assure its financial soundness is to get away from the huge deficits created by the Republicans.
Besides, no matter what plan the Democrats put out, Bush, Congress and the RWCM will attack it. They’re much better counterpunchers. Let them stay back on their heels instead.

  2. All true and good points, Carnacki. Still, notwithstanding the Social Security fight, the Dems have to put something forward at some point, preferably before the close of the 2006 cycle. It’s well past time for some quality payback for the “Contract with America.”
