Stems and Thorns.
With the nuclear detente and Priscilla Owen now on her way to a judgeship, congressional attention turns to stem cell research. With the right-wing fundies already on the warpath over the loss of GOP nukes, how will they respond in the unlikely event of Dubya's threatened veto getting overridden?

As you might imagine, because of this vote, we've been remarkably busy lately:

But it's still a victory, and it looks like we've got the votes in the Senate to get it through. I can't believe the President would buck the national mood towards accepting this kind of important research and veto this bill (to what end? Appeasement of the right-wingers? Why? He's already elected...). I have to agree with Tim Russert's comments on the Today show this morning: stem cells could well be the sleeper issue of Campaign 2008.
Hell, I think they could be an issue, maybe the issue for the mid-term elections (closer than you think).
