Can We Get a Witness?

With CBS giving up on the Killian memos, both the NY Times and Salon try to refocus the story on the facts of Dubya's disappearance. Still an excellent question...

Hey, has this conspiracy theory gotten around? Karl Rove planted the fake memos so he could label anyone who questioned Bush's Guard service as a liar and prove that the "liberal media" exists. Why else would he have released the documents himself? You know everyone on his team knew every damn detail of all those documents... all the other ones were redacted word for word, but this one mysteriously "got through."

Thus, given the attention that most Americans pay to this stuff, the Swifties are telling the truth and Kerry is a liar. Makes perfect sense.
