Tim Burton is tapped for the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake. I'm not sure if a remake is really necessary, but, if you're going to do one, I suppose Burton is the man to helm it. And in other directing news, Darren "Requiem for a Dream" Aronofsky wil be helming Lone Wolf and Cub. Does this mean Batman: Year One is dead?

I am not familiar with the original book, but as I understand it, it is significantly darker than the original movie. And rumour has it that Burton plans to use the original book as his starting point. So, who know what will happen. Should prove interesting.

The orignal text of the book, which is hard to come by, was EXTREMELY dark! The Oompa Loompas were black, the children were either killed or physically harmed and left scarred. There was really only a happy ending for Charlie. Veruca was attacked by a nut cracking squrriel and had her head thumped and then was thrown in the trash. The book is right up burton's alley! Lets just hope casting realizes this is a dark movie and casts as such
